UNS N06601 Inconel Coil Advantages And Disadvantages
The UNS N06601 Inconel coil is a base nickel and chromium alloy that gives it good corrosion and oxidation resistance properties. These coils are easy to transport and can be readily sheared into smaller items. They work in oxidative temperatures and are adherent to the oxide scale, which resists spalling under cyclic conditions. The coils have high mechanical strength and can be readily machined and welded in place following standard procedures. They have good creep rupture strength and metallurgical stability. The coil has some disadvantages, namely, the UNS N06601 Inconel coil is difficult to hold and move. The coils are slightly expensive and don’t work well in temperatures above 2200 degrees F.
