Is There Is Any Difference Between Super Duplex Bolts And Nuts?
Super Duplex bolts and nuts are two common fasteners that are used in tandem to connect different equipment. A super duplex bolt is threaded on its exterior, allowing it to be wrenched easily. They may require nuts to hold them in place. A super duplex nut is a small metal object designed without a head. These nuts have a spiral cut groove that runs through a hole in the center. The nuts are designed to connect a bolt or stud to firmly grip the equipment. A nut experiences compressive forces, while bolts experience tensile forces.
Features Of Super Duplex Fasteners
A super duplex fastener is designed with an austenitic and ferritic microstructure. These fasteners efficiently connect different equipment and firmly hold them in place. The superior chemical composition makes the fasteners have good corrosion resistance properties. A super duplex grade has good tolerance to pitting by acids and stress corrosion cracking. They show excellent mechanical strength and possess good ductility and toughness.
How Much Torque Does A Super Duplex Hex Bolt Need?
Torque is very necessary to create strong tension between threaded fasteners. The torque required varies from nominal diameters and whether the device is lubricated or dry. For a hex bolt with nominal diameters of 1/4 inches, the dry torque will be 7.4 ft-lb with lubricated being 5.5 ft-lb. Similar to nominal diameters of 1 inch, the dry torque will be 560 ft-lb, with the lubricated torque being 420 ft-lb.
How Do You Read A Super Duplex Stud Bolts And Nut Size?
A Super duplex metric nut size can be checked by counting the number of lines on the tape measure to calculate its measurements. If you see 9 lines the size is 9mm. For a US standard count the smallest line to tape measure in sixteenths. Adding the sixteenths will help find the size. Count the 11 lines, the size of the nut will be 11/6. A super duplex stud bolts have free threads above the top of the nut that is equal to 1/3 times the bolt diameter.
